What Happens When You Trade Drugs for Sex?

In the case of a Pittsburg doctor who is accused of trading prescription drugs for sex, the answer may be significant jail time and payment of significant financial damages.

Dr. Michael Vogini has been indicted on charges that the drugs he prescribed led to a patient’s death.  It is specifically alleged that Dr. Vogini traded prescriptions for sex with his female patients and that one of his patients died of an overdose from those drugs.  The drugs that he was allegedly prescribing were addictive painkillers.

Dr. Michael Vogini was arrested on Wednesday June 23, 2010.  His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday June 30.

Dr. Vogini may also face Pennsylvania medical malpractice and wrongful death lawsuits for his actions.
