New Study Finds 90 Percent of Hospital Errors go Unreported

A study conducted by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality was recently published in the journal Health Affairs and made some startling conclusions.  According to the study, hospital errors are about 10 times more likely to occur than they are to be reported.

The study’s authors are concerned about this discrepancy for a few reasons.  For example, not only does the study imply that hospitals provide false information to the public but it also may interfere with experts making meaningful changes to improve patient safety.

As a patient, it is important to be aware of the potential for an error to occur and to promptly report an error that may have occurred because of medical malpractice to the hospital, to a doctor who can treat you, and to your Pennsylvania medical malpractice attorney.
