Lehigh County Woman Awarded 23 Million in Home Care Nurse Medical Malpractice Lawsuit

Earlier this month a Lehigh County jury found that a home care nurse failed to properly evaluate and report an infected catheter which led to a blood infection and to the patient requiring a double leg amputation.  Attorneys for the plaintiff argued that it was the delay in identifying and treating the infected catheter which led to the plaintiff’s injury.

The jury found for the plaintiff and awarded the patient more than $23 million.  The defendants’ attorneys call this Pennsylvania medical malpractice verdict excessive and shocking to the conscience.  What do you think?
