Doctors Have a Responsibility to Obese Patients

Physical exams are more challenging on patients who are significantly overweight or obese.  It can be difficult for doctors to feel tumors or abnormalities, for example.

However, that difficulty does not take away all responsibility from the doctor for diagnosing certain conditions.  When an obese patient has symptoms of a condition and a physical exam is inconclusive then a reasonable doctor might order tests to determine whether the condition exists.  The failure to order such tests and thus the failure to diagnose a medical condition may be medical malpractice in certain cases.

If your doctor ignored your symptoms and failed to diagnose your condition because of your obesity then you may be entitled to damages for the injuries that you suffered.  Contact a Pennsylvania medical malpractice lawyer for more information.
