Magellan Health Service, the company that handles mental health care for low income patients in Bucks, Montgomery and Delaware Counties has announced that it will no longer approve services at Friends Hospital.
A Delaware County Official has said that this drastic move comes after Magellan learned that staffing levels at Friends are inadequate. Last year state and local officials raised concerns about oversight of patients at the facility after a patient committed suicide, which in the opinion of state officials, could’ve been prevented.
Philadelphia will still refer patients for inpatient care at Friends but will not approve emergency psychiatric services.
If you, or a loved one, have been hurt by inadequate staffing levels or negligence at Friends Hospital then you may be entitled to damages for your injuries and you should seek the advice of an experienced Philadelphia medical malpractice lawyer.
