$3.8 Million Delaware County Medical Malpractice Verdict

Late last month, a Delaware County medical malpractice case ended in a $3.8 million verdict in damages to a husband whose wife allegedly died because of malpractice committed at Riddle Memorial Hospital.

The patient, Janice Heffner, died of a blood infection after being admitted to the hospital with stomach pain that the hospital attributed to constipation.  Mr. Heffner’s lawsuit alleged that the doctors were negligent because they failed to treat his wife with the urgency that her condition demanded even as she got sicker during her hospital stay.

The attorney for one of the doctors said the verdict would not be appealed.
